Our client Girl Hub Rwanda’s mission is to enable all of Rwanda’s one million adolescent girls (aged 10-19) to fulfil their potential. We work across four areas: partnering with leaders to deliver for girls; developing innovations in girl programming; working through our brand platform Ni Nyampinga to inspire and enable girls; and generating girl-led insights and evidence. As the Girl Hub Rwanda Communications Coordinator, you will work with the Communications Manager to ensure that all communications activities are in line with the overall GHR Communications strategy to transform the lives of girls. You will have responsibility for the following areas of work:
  •     Create content for stories to deliver change for the girls for GHR’s Media Platforms – for example, the Girl Hub blog and the Girl Effect website, as well as providing regular updates on our internal storytelling platforms.
  •     Manage NN magazine influencer distribution: Develop distribution strategy and supervise distribution of Ni Nyampinga Magazine to all influencers to ensure in a timely way
  •     Manage GHR Events calendar
  •     Manage GHR’s Influencer data base
  •     Oversee printing and development of collaterals
  •     Manage physical collateral distribution to influencers [NN magazines, invitations, print collateral, etc.]
  •     Track contracts and complement of contractor milestones
  •     Publish Monthly Newsletter
  •     Manage Advisory Committee communications e.g. ensure invitations are sent out and arrange logistics around the meeting
  •     Manage Country Director communications including; writing correspondence [as needed], set agenda for high level meetings and develop briefs, talking points for meetings .


  •     5 years of professional experience in communications for an international organization
  •     A strong background in powerful storytelling. You should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of what makes a good story
  •     Proven experience of communications strategy development and implementation for organisations and projects.
  •     Have creative ideas and enthusiasm for delivering powerful content that fits with the Girl Effect brand.
  •     Excellent written and spoken English required; knowledge of Kinyarwanda and/or French would be an asset
  •     Knowledge of Rwandan and International media landscapes
  •     Thorough understanding of the needs of different media and communication tools for digital, print and broadcast
  •     Ability to work within different cultural practices and customs
  •     Experience of living and working in a developing country.
  •     Experience of working with others and getting the best out of people.
  •     Willing to travel regularly for field work in rural areas to collect stories
  •     Strong skills in photography and film-making (DSLR camera, FCP editing) are highly desirable. You will be expected to commission and/or create multi-media material for all our media platforms on a regular basis. You will also supervise the production of content from other team members.

Period of the contract

The Communications Coordinator is a permanent position within Girl Hub Rwanda but will be annually evaluated to ensure the terms and conditions are fulfilled.
