FINANCE ASSISTANT- Kirehe District (3months contract)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Community Protection Programme Manager, the Finance Assistant will facilitate effective, efficient and comprehensive production of financial reports by capturing accounting transactions timely and accurately at Field office level as well as customer focused and pro-active administrative service to SCI Rwanda Office.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Key accountabilities:
- Support the budget holders in Budgeting, Budget monitoring and Budget control
- Maintenance of financial records and monitoring systems; records and reconciles expenditures, balances, payments and other day-to-day transactions
- Managing petty cash in daily basis and conduct petty cash count in weekly basis
- Ensure cash controls and other internal controls are in place and complied with
- Ensure staff , partners, volunteers comply with SCI policies and procedures
- Ensure all business floats are timely settled and posted into GLACOS
- Timely Register all approved transactions into GLACOS/AGRESSO
- Facilitate external audits by providing all required information to the auditors
- Follow up on the implementation of Grants and assist as required
- Support in Capacity building for staff in Financial management
- Producing accurate bi-monthly reports on time
- Effective management of donor financial requirements and responsibilities
- Maintenance of proper and accurate financial records
- Support to program staff/ budget holder provided when required and in a timely manner
- Effective introduction and maintenance of financial management system
Responsibility for resources:
Ensure that the cash and cash equivalents and financial records are safeguarded and utilized in the intended manner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Essential
- At least 2-years/substantial experience working with an humanitarian organisation within an emergency environment.
- Experience in supervising volunteers from the beneficiary community.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and computer literate.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles
Desirable:
Ability to speak other international languages
Good computer skills in Excel and database
