Position: Academy Trainer, Kigali

Role Type: Full-time
Location: Kigali (initial training period in Arusha, Tanzania)

The Academy Trainer will drive the curriculum development and training strategy at M-Power Academy (MPA). At the same time, the Trainer will contribute to planning the ongoing, long-term career development for MPA graduates. Working with a small team, the OGA Trainer will have to wear many hats, and be creative, to support the academy launch. This includes contributing to the attraction, recruitment and training components of MPA.:

Key responsibilities:
  •     Contributing to the overall training strategy of MPA
  •     Develop blended (class, field, online) training curricula in designated areas, as determined by the Assistant Academy Head and/or the Head of People & Culture, with support from OGE staff
  •     Developing appraisal tools and strategy for MPA departments and stages
  •     Managing the delivery of the training including piloting and adapting curricula
  •     Advising trainees through cohort management and contributing to individual learning plans
  •     Ensuring all core training requirements are met
  •     Build understanding of e-learning techniques, and where relevant, contribute to the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages
  •     Research new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and presenting this research back to the team
  •     Contribute to the MPA marketing strategy by articulating the value of the training program
  •     Provide curricula benchmarks to the recruitment team for use in their recruitment strategy
  •     Participate in recruitment including university relationship building, diagnostic testing, group interviews, and enrolment

Required Skills & Experiences:
  •     Commitment to live and work in Rwanda
  •     3+ years overall work experience including training and people management
  •     Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a record of strong academic performance
  •     Demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship, including the ability to flourish in dynamic, ambiguous environments and to drive work independently
  •     Experience working in a high-pressure work setting
  •     Desire to coach and mentor others
  •     Willingness to work a variety of hours as business demands, including late nights, weekends, and holiday
Highly Desired Skills & Experiences:
  •     Masters level degree preferred
  •     Bilingual English and Kinyarwanda
  •     Education and/or work experience in renewable energy or energy access programs
  •     Interest in long-term career development through possible assignments in multiple countries
  •     Ambition to build the most successful solar company in East Africa
  •   Rwandese nationals prefered.
