Research Support Services Ltd. (RSS Group) is an independent employee-owned research consulting and institutional strengthening firm established to conduct health, policy, social, agricultural, environmental and development research through innovation, partnership and capacity building, with the aim of promoting evidence based decision making processes. RSS is currently looking for a short term data manager to assist in managing data quality for data collection activities for one of its potential agricultural household survey projects in Rwanda. We are seeking qualified and self motivated individuals with the following key qualifications;

§    Advanced Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Economics; with consulting experience in agribusiness development, impact evaluations, microeconomics and/or agricultural statistics;
§    Past experience in managing large data from agricultural surveys and household studies and mainly projects on agricultural value chains, agribusiness development, rural finance, rural markets and economic empowerment;
§    Experience in managing data for Projects or Programmes in the Agribusiness sector; Excellent skills in microeconomics, agricultural development models, econometrics and impact evaluations;
§    Good knowledge of the Tea sector agriculture in Rwanda; Excellent report writing and presentation skills and track-record for delivering highly successful project results; In-depth understanding of Rwanda socio-cultural context, rural and poor communities and fluency in English and Kinyarwanda;
§    Experience in coordinating data quality checks and managing data clerks, strong supervision and organizational skills; excellent project management capability, team player and attention to detail;
§    Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and sampling techniques;
§    Excellent skills in electronic data collection and programming using hand held devices including Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), Tablets and web-based integration and presentation of data collection applications for real-time data entry, progress monitoring and reporting, with a strong bias and experience in using ODK backbones.
§    Superior Information Technology applications and experiences for data analysis and mapping including (SPSS, Stata, CSPro, SAS, R+, NVivo, ATLAS.ti, Sensemaker etc);

The data collection work shall be conducted within the Republic of Rwanda between February and May 2016. We shall select researchers who emanate from and have knowledge of the local communities in Rwanda.
