Hatchery Supervisor

easyHATCH Ltd is offering a prime role for energetic, dynamic and seasoned professional to join our team.

The successful candidate will need to be fairly autonomous and approach their job with zeal, integrity and utmost honesty.

In this role you will supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in receiving and preparing eggs for incubation; incubating eggs; grading, preparing, and shipping chicks. You will confer with hatchery manager to discuss equipment and supply needs, production and research requirements, and work schedules.

This is a hands-on position reporting to the Hatchery Manager.

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & TRACK RECORD
Pre-requisites Skills & Qualifications
• Must have good communication skills (Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, English, French)
• High sense of organization and structure & efficient on time management
• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture (Poultry Science)
• Three years relevant poultry experience, preferably in a hatchery environment.
• Be computer literate. Proven proficiency in MS Office & ERP software
• Have proven experience in managing computerized incubators.
• Have proven analytical, problem solving ability.
• Ability to lead and coach others (Delegation, Conflict Management, Planning)

Key Responsibilities
• General administration of the hatchery
• Doing checks (including Night duty) on all machines.
• Doing standby duties.
• Assigns workers to duties, such as egg candling, sorting and traying, incubating eggs, vaccinating, grading and debeaking chicks.
• Monitors thermometers, gauges, and chart recorders to detect equipment malfunctions and to verify compliance with incubator temperature and ventilation standards.
• Adjusts controls to maintain specified incubating conditions.
• Periodically inspects eggs in incubator trays to ascertain hatching progress, and orders removal of chicks.
• Observes packing of chicks to verify adherence to customer's orders and shipping instructions.
• Prepares production reports, and requisitions equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Managing hatchability to the required standard.
• Receiving 7 day mortality reports from customers and ensuring that they are within acceptable limits.
• Managing egg bank and egg stock in the cold rooms.
• Compiling weekly reports on hatchery activities, like chick production and sales reports required by regulatory bodies
• Junior/new staff management and training.
• Manage and maintain high hygiene & bio-security levels.
• Maintaining Health and Safety, Food Safety, and Environment.
• Assist in budget preparation and forecasting through detailed data analysis.
• Prepares hatching schedules for variety of chicks considering such factors as customer orders, market forecasts, and hatchery facilities equipment
• Interprets hatchery records and genetic data on chicks advises customers regarding breeding, brooding, feeding, and sanitation practices to follow for various species of poultry
• Arranges with farmers to supply eggs or obtains eggs from company owned flocks
• Comply with any other duties assigned by the CEO

REMUNERATION PACKAGE
An attractive market related salary will be offered – Please indicate salary expectation when applying. easyHATCH will not sponsor a work Visa for this position. You must provide proof of the right to work in Rwanda.

The successful candidate will be hired on a 3 months’ probation contract. If the candidate proves to be suitable then they will be offered a permanent position. easyHATCH will provide all the necessary training.
