Communications and Social Media Officer

The job holder will work within our Marketing department and will be responsible for conveying the bank's internal and external messages and will manage the bank’s public relations and social media presence through development of content; monitoring activity, and updating the platforms in line with the bank’s vision, values and agreed communication strategy.

Roles and responsibilities

  1.     With Communications Strategist, the job holder will support the development of both short and long-term strategic communications plans for the organization and is responsible for the execution of these initiatives.
  2.     Develop communications content including webpage copy, photos, video clips, and other content that can be shared via our online and mobile vehicles including, the bank website, intranet and all social media platforms where the bank is present.
  3.     Ensure that employees are aware of changes, events and projects within the company.
  4.     Assist in the development, writing and editing of content for brochures, reports, presentations, pamphlets, collateral materials and other Communications projects.​
  5.     Monitor, listen and respond to users while cultivating leads and sales.
  6.     With the support of Customer Service team, handle customer queries received through social media platforms.
  7.     With the Head of Corporate Strategy, write speeches for senior managements and develop content for press releases.
  8.     Identify threats and opportunities in user-generated content surrounding the business. Report notable threats to appropriate management.
  9.     Compile reports for management showing results of online campaigns (ROI).
  10.     Develop a strategy and implement a proactive process for capturing customer online reviews. Monitor online ratings and respond accordingly.
Required skills and capabilities
  1.     Bachelor’s Degree in mass communications, public relations, journalism, creative writing, English, marketing, business or related field.
  2.     Minimum 3 years experience in communications, public relations, social media, news media and/​or marketing.
  3.     Superior oral and written communication skills; including strong writing, and meticulous editing and proofreading skills.​
  4.     Proficiency in English and Kinyarwanda required. Working knowledge of French is a plus.
  5.     Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in Social Media. (Give links to profiles as examples).
  6.     Maintains a working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research. Highly knowledgeable in the principles of “Search and Social”.
  7.     Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a high-energy organization with many deadlines and responsibility for a high volume of communication production.​
  8.     Ability to problem solve, exercise judgment, and work with minimum direction;
  9.     Demonstrates winning Social Customer Service techniques. Possesses great ability to identify potential negative or crisis situation and apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate issues.
