Africa Improved Foods Rwanda Ltd is a manufacturer of highly nutritious quality fortified foods. Our nutrition products are intended to address malnutrition among vulnerable population segments such as pregnant and breast-feeding mothers, older infants and young children especially in the first 1,000 days of their life. To this end, we plan to avail on a commercial scale nutritional products for lifestyle consumer groups in Rwanda and the whole East African Region.

Purpose of the job

The HR Administrator is responsible for providing generalist HR support in the implementation of HR processes as well as basic advice on the policies and procedures to staff and managers.

The HR Administrator is the first point of contact for all HR-related queries in HR-related documentation, such as employee personal files, leave, medical cards etc.

Job Context

As a start-up, Africa Improved Foods is a fast growing organization in which the HR Administrator will play a critical role in managing HR data and preparing the required documentation relating to recruitment, learning & development, compensation & benefits, and employee welfare.

The HR Administrator is a key skilled role in the HR Back Office. The HR Administrator does all required data entry and updates of personnel files, and serves the role of Help Desk/ enquiries on HR related matters.

Job Content:

    Assist with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties
    Be the first point of contact for all HR-related queries
    Maintain the human resource database and all employee records and files in accordance with legal requirements
    Ensure the relevant HR database is up to date, accurate and complies with legislation
    Administer HR- related documentation, such as employment contracts, employee personal files
    Handle employee benefits (i.e.: medical insurance, staff ID Cards)
    Provide administrative support for the recruitment processes
    Process employee reference check
    Assist in employee orientation, development, and training logistics
    Complete monthly and year-end reports regarding attendance statistics, leave, terminations, transfers, and new hires

Complexity of the job

The HR Administrator is responsible to provide routine HR administrative support in the various HR functional areas, including employee personal file records, labour relations, recruitment and employment, benefits administration and training, etc.

Knowledge and educational level

Educational level

    At least a Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Business Administration Management or any related field

Other related skills

    Good experience in General HR
    Familiarity in working with HR Information systems or any other relevant computer software

Required level of experiences

    Minimum of 1 year experience as a HR generalist
    Good experience in General HR, Recruitment, Compensation & Benefits
    General knowledge of various employment laws and practices
    Experience in administration of benefits and other HR programs
    Well organised and methodical in the problem solving approach
    Good knowledge to manage filing/database system

    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
