Senior engineers

Hydro Operation Great Lakes is a subsidiary of Hydro Operation International, a Swiss company active in the development, engineering, operation and maintenance of hydroelectric power plants in Africa. We have just opened our office in Kigali, from which we offer our services in Rwanda and the Great Lakes region.

To support our growth, we are currently looking for Senior Engineers to strengthen our team in Kigali. This position will report to the Managing Director (who also serves as Technical Director). The suitable candidate for this job is expected to be able to become Technical Director in the long term.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
·         Perform engineering calculations
·         Ensure projects are executed on time and within budget
·         Write technical reports
·         Manage junior engineers and verify calculations and drawings
·         Act as the point of contact for contractors, suppliers and service providers
·         Management of construction sites

Required attitudes:
·         Interest in engineering and the energy sector
·         Good organizational skills
·         Attention to detail
·         Ability to work under pressure
·         No nine to five mentality
·         Willingness to work in a startup company where flexibility is required
·         Excellent team player

·         A0 diploma (bachelor) or master in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
·         5 to 10 years of work experience, of which minimum 3 years as a Senior Engineer
·         Excellent skills in writing technical reports
·         Excellent project management skills
·         Proven track record and experience in at least one of the following:
o   Managing a construction project of at least one million USD
o   Experience in hydro power, either in engineering or in operation and maintenance
o   Experience in an industrial environment as an engineer, involving automation (PLC programming).
·         Good knowledge of Rwandan legislation regarding engineering works and environmental management.
·         Excellent oral and written command of Kinyarwanda and English. Swahili and/or French are assets
·         Excellent Computer skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a minimum)
·         Knowledge of CAD software (AUTOCAD, Geomensura, ArchiCAD,…) is an asset
·         Knowledge of topographic surveys and GIS is an asset
·         A driving license is an asset
·         Experience working for an international company or organization is an asset
