ActionAid Rwanda – Fundraising Intern For 6 Month


The Head of Fundraising is set to go on Maternity leave starting from End of April to End of August, in the maternity period; the role will be covered by an internal staff, which will need extra support in the fundraising department in the capacity of Fundraising Officer. The recruited Intern will be placed as a fundraising officer reporting to the Maternity cover.

ActionAid International Rwanda is advancing its MDP (Membership development process) and this requires strengthen its capacity to raise funds for sustainability. AAR has just finalized writing its 2nd strategy paper which will be launched this March 2018.

AAR has developed different documents and strategies (Resource mobilization strategy, Donor Scoping surveys, and Donor Engagement plans) and these will need to be updated with the new strategy. The Intern will support in the mentioned processes and In addition the person will temporarily fill the gap existing in AAR during the period the Head of fundraising is on maternity leave

II.    Purpose

  • The primary purpose of the internship is to equip of young professional with the relevant skills and capacities that allows them to be future leaders and policy influencers and can lead organizations such as Actionaid International Rwanda.
  • The person will be placed in Fundraising and Programs and will be under the direct guidance of the Acting Head of Fundraising.
  • Specifically, among others, during the internship, the intern will focus on:
  • Support in the review of the resource mobilisation strategy that ensures delivery and greatest impact on mission guided by the CSP
  • Support in the process of updating the donor scoping according to the new CSP happening this year and as part of this we will come up with PoPs ( program operations plans) and funding plans for the remaining term of CSP
  • Support in identify funding gaps and strategies to filling in the gaps
  • Support the acting Head Of Fundraising in the process of ensuring smooth start of 2 new projects – UKAID project and Amplify Change project
  • Support in Concept note development
  • Support in Proposal development


III.    Duration of internship
The internship duration will be for six months from April to September 2018

IV.    Output

  • An internship report that is inclusive of a general appreciation of the period indication what achievements have been made and recommended areas of improvements will be delivered to Actionaid at the end of the internship.

AAR will be given the intern a facilitation fee of only as contained in our internship policy;

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences; International development; development studies or related field


Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • At least some working experience in donor funded projects or development organization particularly in the field of fundraising and/or Resource Mobilization;
  • Some knowledge of donor intelligence , proposal development
  • Experience in policy research

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Performs journeyman level plumbing installation, preventive and routine maintenance, and routine and urgent repairs on plumbing components and equipment in GO and STL office and residential properties. Knowledgeable of general mechanical systems, including domestic hot and cold water piping systems, wastewater piping systems and vent stacks, septic systems, storm water management systems, and irrigation systems is required. Knowledgeable of all tools of trade and methods assumed by experience as a journeyman level plumber. The incumbent will receive daily supervision from the Locally Employed Staff (LES) Maintenance Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

: Completion of secondary school required. Completion of vocational training or apprenticeship leading to a Journeyman level Certificate as a plumber is required.
: A minimum of 2 years journeyman level plumbing skilled trades in maintenance or construction work is required. Listed experience must include work involving large office, commercial facility, or similar complex or compound according to international construction standards with use of drawings and specifications such as International Building Code (IBC) or similar standards is required.
: Level III English (good working knowledge) is required and Kinyarwanda Level III (good working knowledge) is required. (This will be tested.)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have a valid driver’s license for standard vehicles.

Field Researcher

Title: Field Researcher
Reports to: Retail Manager

Purpose:
The Field Researcher will assist with research data collection, analyse and provide regular reports on results of the field finds. He/she will be expected to assist with conducting a series of interviews or focus groups with current BBOXX customers as part of research projects within BBOXX

Laboratory Technician

ARC islooking for qualified, self-driven and committed individual - for the position of Laboratory Technician, to be based at the ARC-run Mahama-I Health Facility, in Mahama Refugee camp

PRIMARY PURPOSE
Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory exams according to Rwandan Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines
  • Verify and maintain all laboratory materials and equipment ensuring good condition
  • Record all laboratory results in their corresponding register, and provide timely test results sheets to different Health Center services
  • Monitor and provide routine maintenance to ensure hygiene of all laboratory materials and equipment
  • Bring sputum of multi-resistant TB cases to National Reference Laboratory as needed.
  • Bring to “National transfusion center” samples of incompatible rhesus for Combs Test and if necessary buy and bring Gamma Globulin substance
  • Ensure proper storage and maintenance of cold-chain
  • Bring samples for CD4 and viral load, count and RPR to Hospital Laboratory as required
  • Take quality control samples to District Hospital on monthly basis
  • Take blood samples, urines samples, stool, sputum according to lab exams prescribed and per guideline


Minimum qualifications:

  • At least A1 Diploma in laboratory sciences or other health-related field from a recognized university with full registration and current practicing license with relevant professional body (Rwanda Medical Council)
  • At least 2 years’ working experience in a human laboratory in a low-resource, fast-paced setting, working with vulnerable/displaced persons
  • Analytical and organizational skills/experience with health data
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Health Information Systems, HIV protocols and Rwandan Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Good oral/writing skills in Kinyarwanda and English or French; and computer literacy
  • Experience working in protracted refugee situation in Rwanda

PRIMARY PURPOSE

  • Key responsibilities:
  • Provide dental treatment to patients, consult with extra attention on services or doses.
  • Refer patients to additional dental services or treatment if required.
  • Provide follow up with the patients that he/she has consulted to ensure good reception and proper treatment.
  • Report to the head Nurse any quality care issues that may require corrective action.
  • Provide instruction in Oral hygiene and methods of preventing the spread of oral diseases.
  • Provide information, Education and Communication (IEC) on oral hygiene and methods of prevention to the beneficiaries.
  • Fill client file and register book for each patient who comes in for consultation.

  • Support in maintenance of medical materials and equipment.

  • Perform record keeping procedures when registering patients according to health center protocols.


Minimum qualifications:

  • A Medical Doctor from a recognized university with full registration and current practicing license with relevant professional body (Rwanda Medical Council) as a Dentist.
  • Full registration and current practicing license with relevant professional body. (Rwanda Allied Health Professions Council) is required.
  • At least 3 years working experience serving as a dentist in a low-resource, fast paced setting, working with vulnerable/displaced persons.
  • Experience in capacity building of health staff with good leadership qualities.
  • Analytical and organizational skills/experience with health data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health information systems and primary health care concepts including Rwandan MOH protocols and guidelines.
  • Strong report writing skills with proven organizational/Multitasking skills.
  • Computer knowledge is an added advantage.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education

The Vegetable Crops Supervisor/Agronomist will oversee the cropping programme for vegetables at Matimba Farm and the neighboring out –grower farmers; he/she will also be responsibility for the supervision of land preparation, crop rotations, plant population, pests/diseases prevention and elimination, soil fertility, soil conservation, vegetables harvesting, grading and packaging.

Required Expertise& Experience:

Degree in Crop Science or Agronomy with a minimum of 3 years’or diploma in Crop Science, Agronomy with a minimum of 5 years work experience in commercial vegetables and fruit production preferably in a commercial farming environment.
Advantage:

Child Development Officer


World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced national for the position of Child Development Officer. This position will be based in various locations in Clusters and reporting to the Cluster Manager.

Purpose of the position:

Facilitate the implementation of project activities in a given Area Program, ensuring that program operations are effective and sustainable in keeping with the standards of agreed WVI ministry policies.

Successful candidates will be expected to facilitate implementation and monitoring of Area Program (AP) operations including sponsorship by working with community based institutions and local partners for better wellbeing of most vulnerable children

The major responsibilities include:

  • Participate in Implementation, monitoring of development projects in collaboration with other partners in the operational area
  • Identify and nurture local partnerships with grassroots civil society organizations, Churches and local administration working for wellbeing of most vulnerable children
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports and plans
  • Participate in Operational planning at Area Program Level
  • Support and facilitate, CBOs. Local partners and churches working on in sponsorship service operations in the AP for wellbeing of most vulnerable children
  • Facilitate networking with government institutions and other development partners within the AP in planning and implementation of development programs focusing on wellbeing of most vulnerable children
  • Participate in Proposal Writing for Development projects and other Special projects
  • Organize review, reflection and learning forums for AP staff, community, local organizations and government working for wellbeing of most vulnerable children
  • Participate monitoring of registered children and other business processes in the AP and facilitate sponsor visits
  • Ensure the integration of Sponsorship project with other development projects in the ADP
  • Keep an updated M&E Database, analyze the data to inform decision making to improve programming for wellbeing of most vulnerable children
  • Ensure implementation and integration of cross cutting business paths as appropriate (Faith & Dev, gender, advocacy, peace building and child protection) in other projects on wellbeing of most vulnerable children
  • Participate in National Office activities / events and plus any other assignment given by line management or senior leadership.


Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Must have a degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economic Development or any other field related to development.

Minimum Qualification required:

  • Must have a university degree in management, rural development, social sciences or related field
  • Experience: Should have at least 2 years experience working in a community development project. Experience in working in development projects is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of Sustainable Community Development, Micro enterprise development, HIV & AIDS, Education and Nutrition is an added advantage.
  • Must be willing to spend long hours in the field.
  • Must possess demonstrable experience in networking and building relationships across different strata of society.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written) and Kinyarwanda is a requirement. Fluency in French is an added advantage.
  • Must be a mature Christian, with people skills and committed to socio- economic and psycho – spiritual development.
  • Should be computer literate in word, excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of database utilization is an added advantage.

We are looking for an experienced Data & IT Manager to oversee the development and use of data systems, specifically POS, CRM, and SCM systems. You will discover efficient ways to organize, store and analyze data with attention to security and confidentiality.

Data Management Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior management to formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data
  • Liaise with vendors to develop, implement, and maintain robust CRM, POS, and SCM systems
  • Train all relevant stakeholders in proper data collection and use of data systems

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Laboratory specialist will work closely with the Program Team, in strengthening the capacity of laboratories to diagnose infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and to support the procurement of needed laboratory supplies and equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical assistance to microbiology laboratories and others as needed and requested as part of overall capacity building and continuous improvement schemes.
Assist in incorporating laboratory strengthening and clinical microbiology laboratory functions and services into their programs.
Assists with the preparation and delivery of laboratory trainings and training-related services particularly with relating to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) diagnostic services.
In close collaboration with laboratory management, support the follow-up of needed corrective and preventive actions particularly in relation to AMR.
Responsible for initiating continuous improvement initiatives upon request to build laboratory capacity and quality with reference to accepted standards and requirements.
Participate in Laboratory Interagency Coordinating Committee (Lab ICC) and provide valuable contribution.
Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES, EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY:

Experience in medical laboratory and specifically Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Rwanda Country Lead will be responsible of overseeing the activities to address Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in the country and engaging with sub partners and Ministry of Health, assisting with funds management and technical monitoring of the work in-country. He/she will work in close collaboration with the Program Team, in strengthening the capacity of laboratories to diagnose infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and will also support the procurement of needed laboratory supplies and equipment.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing and maintaining filing, recording and reporting systems;
Co-ordinating the production of reports;
Maintaining systems for recording costs (including time and expenses);
Financial reporting to the Central Hub;
Developing effective communication mechanisms between the Regional Hub and Country Teams; and
Undertaking any other administrative activities as specified by the Regional Team Leader or Regional Portfolio Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES, EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY:

Programmatic experience and management will be highly desirable
Strong familiarity with the country and the healthcare and institutional landscape within them
High level stakeholder engagement skills
Experience in delivering large health programs in low and middle income country
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) expertise is not essential although would be highly desirable
Good in both written and spoken English and report writing.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor Degree in sciences, arts, or medicine
Master’s degree will be added advantage
At least 8-10 years’ experience in designing, implementing and managing donor-funded public health programs.
